Mayflowers

lyrics

I’m not gonna weep and fret
the storm could come but it hasn’t yet
They say April rains will bring May flowers
my umbrella’s open and I’m countin the hours

We fumble and trip for the golden ring,
watch the tortoise and the hare do their thing
gotta bug in Baja and a cut on my hand
Just bought stocks in a Lemonade stand

Did Miss Jane tell you what to do?
is her witty pride something you could use
all those London charms and country farms
drift into your beer soaked snooze

Wake up to find a damsel on desolation row
Putting all her demons out to show
But who could compete with Yeats or Austen
Find her something else to get lost in

I’m waiting for my lovers call
out on the freeway horns and all
head spinnin so fast it could beat an egg
slip it into a wedding cake

Yes it’s one nonsequitor after another
or I'm holding so tight like a goodbye mother
I got ways to bring this down but I won’t when
my heart is still so open

I’m not gonna weep and fret
the storm could come but it surely hasn’t yet
They say April rains will bring May flowers
my umbrella’s open and I’m countin the hours
